Our students have build their first cob earth bench! Students designed, built, and sculpted the earth bench from scratch using natural material called cob. Cob is a mixture of sand, clay, straw, and water. Students painted tiles and created the mosaic. The cob bench is very popular and children love sitting on it.
Mr. B and Miss Marissa in front of squash mountain at the National Heirloom Expo. We had the opportunity to attend this event for professional development. All the colors, shapes, sizes, textures display genetic diversity. We met farmers and gardeners who specialize in growing heirloom varieties of tomatoes, potatoes, melons, squash, apples, pears so much more! We saw Jon Jeavons (Grow Biointensive Method), Toby Hemenway (Gaia's Garden), and Penny Livingston (Regenerative Design Institute) speak about water-wise gardening practices and how to grow a complete diet. We enjoyed tasting the rainbow and purchasing heirloom seeds for the AVS garden!
